Former Pakistan cricketer Mohammad Amir has proposed a reshuffle in an opening combination of Pakistan's T20 side.

While talking in Geo News' show 'Haarna Mana Hay', the left-arm pacer voiced his inclination towards altering the opening combination.

Highlighting the crucial role of the early overs in a T20 match, Amir stressed the importance of having impactful players at the start of the batting order.

"I'll pick Fakhar and Saim as openers, I won't even keep Babar and Rizwan as openers. Because in T20, six overs of batting and six overs of bowling are extremely important," Amir said.

Emphasising the need for a strong beginning, Amir conveyed his confidence in Saim and Fakhar, stating that they have the essential qualities to kickstart the innings during the powerplay overs.

"You need impact in the powerplay from the beginning. Saim and Fakhar are impactful players," he further added.

On the other hand, all-rounder Imad Wasim, who credited Babar for scoring a century earlier this year against New Zealand in Lahore, said that it was one of the best T20 knocks but time has changed.

"One has to compete with the world since T20 cricket changes month by month. We never said to remove Babar completely, we only suggested to come down the order. Where the team needs a captain the most, the captain must bat there. He plays spinners and pacers well," he added.

It must be noted Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan are the best opening pair in the history of the shorter format.

In 56 innings, they have collectively scored 2708 runs with the help of nine partnerships of 100+ and 11 fifty-run stand.
